While building the website, I realized that I needed a long narrow photo for the landing page. I went through thousands of images but nothing worked so I headed out to the park. It was a stormy afternoon so I played around doing timelapse videos. The next morning I crawled out of my tent early and headed to an area that had burnt back in the nineties leaving only a few trees giving me ample area to back up and get the shot I needed. While standing there trying to decide my composition two coyotes walked through the scene heading home from a night of hunting. I found the spot where I wanted to shoot from and started shooting. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw one of the coyotes turn around and walk back into my shot. He stopped for a moment then sat down and started to howl for about thirty seconds then walked away to join the other coyote. Apparently he had been hanging out with other coyotes that night because six or seven coyotes howled back at him. My best guess is to why he came back and started to howl was that he forgot to say good night to his friends or else he was the coyote that ate my camera bag and caught my scent in the wind and came back to mock me!!! You can just make him out near the right side of the frame and about fifty feet past the joshua tree. link to Coyote Ate My Camera Bag

Here's a couple shots that have been cropped. He's a little out of focus since I was focusing on the tree in the foreground.
